The 5th Annual Jazz 88.3 FM Summer Jazz Workshop Presented by House of Blues
July 13 - July 18
July 20 - July 25
The 5th Annual Summer Jazz Workshop, in partnership with San Diego’s House of Blues® and Jazz 88.3 FM, provides a unique opportunity for middle and high school age students to study with some of San Diego's most gifted professional jazz musicians/teachers in an environment designed to nurture their growth as musicians, both technically and creatively. This is a hands-on Workshop where students learn performance skills, improvisation, jazz theory and history, with the emphasis on playing music!
Two one-week sessions will be held at Francis Parker School's Thiemann Music Center, a state-of-the-art facility featuring dedicated classrooms and practice studios. This is the perfect venue for students to grow musically as they learn to express themselves through the art of jazz improvisation. Each session culminates with the opportunity for the students to perform at one of San Diego's premier concert venues, the House of Blues®. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome at each session.
9:00 am – 3:00 pm (M-F)
Students will perform for parents and others at the House of Blues® on the Saturday following each weekly session.
