Dear Upper School Community Members,
I am writing this note in between more than a couple of events. I just came back from the Senior BBQ at La Jolla Shores where we celebrated the seniors as we all get ready for the start of school. It was a great day for the seniors who were sharing stories about their summers, going for a swim (shark warnings notwithstanding), and flingin' the Frisbee. Now, we are getting ready for tonight's grade 9 orientation which will be full of good food and some tasty information about the upper school experience. In the meantime, teachers are busy in meetings and getting all ready for Tuesday.

Senior Yearbook Portraits - DEADLINE EXTENDED
All senior portraits must be taken and chosen by October 15th in order to be included in the 2011-2012 yearbook. Please note this deadline is final. You may contact studio/Michael Spengler Photography at (858) 454-0331 or www.studiomlajolla.com for an appointment if you haven’t done so already.
Please ask your senior to be thinking of his or her senior quote and select a baby picture for the yearbook. These will be due to the yearbook staff by the end of September. The yearbook staff will also be sending out details soon how to buy a Senior Ad for the yearbook.
A Reminder About Underage Drinking:
As a new school year begins, so too do parties. We want to make sure that all of our families and students are safe. Please remember that if you are hosting a party that alcohol is not being served to the students. It is illegal to do so. I wanted to remind you that the supplying of "alcohol to a minor (person under 21 years of age), or who allows alcohol or drugs to be used by a minor when he/she is in a position to prevent that use, may be liable for damages resulting from the minor's impairment and also may be arrested. For example, a person who supplies alcohol to minors or hosts a party where drinking is allowed could be assessed for significant damages if the minor, driving while impaired, causes a car crash inflicting injury to himself or others or to property." (Center for Applied Research Solutions). Thank you for watching out for all of the students in the community.
