News for the Week of October 3....
Dear Upper School Community,
Wow! Where did September go?! Clearly, now we are in the midst of the first trimester and as Back to School Night evidenced there are wonderful things happening in the classrooms. It seems like the new format for the evening was a hit and that the new structure of longer classes lent itself to more meaningful interactions. It certainly sets the tone for a very special year.
I want to call your attention to an article that we began to discuss in an upper school faculty meeting. It provides interesting commentary and reflections on teaching character education and setting a tone of challenge and disappointment as a springboard for success.
Here is what you need to know:
T-DapThere is a new state law in effect requiring all students in grades 7 - 12 to have the Tdap vaccine (Pertussis-Whooping Cough) in order to start school this fall. If your child has already received the vaccine, or your child's doctor indicates his/her booster is up to date, kindly forward that paperwork to Laura Southworth in the Upper School office.
•The deadline for all students is October 19.
If the documentation is not submitted, students may not be permitted to attend school.
WeCare proudly presents parent education speaker Dr. Ken Ginsburg who will discuss "Resilience in Action: Raising Children and Adolescents Who are Prepared to Thrive!" He is an expert in raising responsilble, and resilient teens
