News for the Week of October 10....

Dear Upper School Community,

I hope that you are about to enjoy or are enjoying a long weekend. This Friday we are beginning our work on our state accredidation report. This is a school wide effort to examine all that we do here to ensure that we are adhereing to our mission and making use of "best practices." As you can tell, this is a mighty and important undertaking. Later today, we are having an in-service training for advisors. We have brought in a nationally known advisor consultant to help us build upon our new advisory system to help make it as successful as possible.

Below is what you need to know for the upcoming week.

Have a great week!

Best,

Paul I. Barsky

NOTES

The Upper School Theatre Department is happy to announce its 2011-2012 season. SWEENEY TODD (December 1, 2 at 7pm; December 3 at 2:00pm and December 9, 10 at 7pm. BROADWAY NIGHT (February 1 at 7pm) and THE LARAMIE PROJECT ( APRIL 19, 20, 21 at 7pm)

 -----------------------------------

Dr. McLaughlin is starting up her series of parent coffees on issues of interest. The first one of the season is "What Do Your Children Know About YOU??????  What to tell....when to tell....what NOT to tell." This is a time to swap stories about family history, experiences and lessons on life.  Sometimes we forget to share those learning moments with our children, and, often times they don't ask.  Family traditions and stories need to be passed on to our children before they're lost. This event will take place on October 26 at 7:45 am.

From Alfredo Valverde (alfredovalverde@cox.net): As the MS Homecoming Chair, I am helping the Parents Association with the HS/MS Spirit Wear Sale.  On October 14th, beginning at 3:00 P.M., we will setup selling tables by the Field House.  As you know that afternoon the Middle School is having their "Sports Night" and most MS parents will be on Campus.  Additionally, the week before Homecoming, October 17th-21st we will be selling the Spirit wear at the MS Commons during the lunch hour.  We are planning to be there from 11:30 until 1:00 P.M.  If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact me.
