Thank You
I am honored to accept the position as Francis Parker School's 12th Head of School. I consider it a privilege to lead this great school and to carry forward our century-long tradition of inspiring excellence.
Along with our remarkable faculty and staff, I am committed to preserving the mission of our school -- to provide our students with a superior program in academics, athletics and arts; to teach those skills essential for a healthy, balanced life; to safeguard our family environment; and to ensure that the needs of the individual child are fulfilled. In short, we hold steadfast to the words and spirit of our founders -- "a school which, by its environment, its methods, and its opportunities, would develop the child for participation in citizenship - the world's work."
Thank you for this extraordinary opportunity.
Be Well
This year, we chose to focus on one specific aspect of our mission: To develop in Parker students the skills necessary for leading a healthy, productive and balanced life.
As our mission states, we are a college-preparatory school. We take that charge very seriously; accordingly, the expectations for our students will remain high. It is our responsibility, however, to ensure that the experiences of our students remain challenging yet supported; the academics be rigorous yet meaningful; and the daily schedule demanding yet balanced. Our commitment must be to provide Parker students with the skills and qualities essential for academic success and personal wellness.
To this end, faculty, staff and administrators are reviewing existing policies as they relate to student wellness; coordinating a school-wide curriculum that promotes character development and encourages informed decision-making; teaching students how to recognize and deal with stress; and making certain that we provide timely counseling, advising, and student support services.
Holiday Wishes
As we enter the Thanksgiving week, we extend our gratitude to all members of the Parker family and all who share in the spirit of our school. Thank you for entrusting us with your children's education, and for your many volunteer hours and charitable gifts. Nothing we have achieved, great or small, could have been accomplished without your generous and ongoing support.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday,
Kevin Yaley
