Working at Parker
Born and raised in New York City, Mrs. Moerder joined the Parker family after teaching in New York and in Vail, Colorado. During her 31 years here at Parker, she has worn various hats as ASB advisor, Yearbook advisor, Assistant Head of the Upper School, and for the past five years, Chair of the Upper School Science Department. Mrs. Moerder has taught a variety of science courses at Parker spanning Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology, AP Biology, and Biotechnology. She presently teaches Molecular Biology and Frontiers in Science. She promotes leadership and service to Parker students serving as advisor for multiple clubs and teams during her tenure including Girls' League, Ocean Sciences Bowl, and S.M.A.R.T Team.
In addition to her Parker responsibilities, Mrs. Moerder serves on the Board of the California Association of Student Leaders implementing student leadership conferences for middle school and high school students around the state. She is also the Lead Curriculum Coordinator for UCSD's Global Environmental Leadership and Sustainability Program, organizing scientific research trips to Biosphere 2, Los Alamos, and Hawaii. Her connection to UCSD has provided Parker students the opportunity to participate in the only school year Research Scholars Program UCSD offers.
Mrs. Moerder has been recognized for her commitment to students by receiving the Mulliken Award for Teaching Excellence, Stanford University's Teacher Tribute, the dedication of the 1987 Parker Calvalcade Yearbook, and she has been inducted into the California Association of Directors of Activities Hall of Fame.
