Francis Parker School Senior Dalante Dunklin has been selected to participate in this weekend's American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk & 3-point Shooting Competition. He was one of only eight high school student-athletes in America chosen for the Slam Dunk portion of the event, and a 6-foot-1, he will likely be the shortest contestant in the field.
The contest will take place on Friday in New Orleans as part of the NCAA Men's Final Four festivities. The competition will be broadcast locally on CBS Channel 8 (KFMB) at 1:30pm on Sunday, April 2.
Dunklin, who signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UC Santa Barbara next fall, led Parker to the CIF Division IV Championship game in each of his four years as a Lancer. He and head coach Jim Tomey captured the D-IV title in 2010.
As a senior in 2011-2012, Dunklin helped the Lancers to 18 wins and a share of the Coastal Conference regular season crown with an 8-2 league record. He was named the Coastal Conference MVP after averaging 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists per game. See more photos of Dunklin here.
