Standardized Test Prep Program
At the Learning Center, small-group classes prepare Parker students for success on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT.
Class meetings are scheduled to accommodate the majority of participants. Please share your scheduling preferences with Lorna Kocian at email@example.com.

2016 SAT and ACT preparation
Learning from the PSAT Cost: $165
Section 1: Friday, January 15th, 10:00-1:00
Section 2: Sunday, January 17th, 2:00-5:00
Section 3: Thursday, January 21, 3:15-6:15
Section 4: Wednesday, January 27, 3:15-6:15
All PSAT problems missed by students registered will be explained. Underlying concepts will be reviewed so students leave with a full understanding of the material covered by the SAT. Class size is limited. An attempt will be made to cluster students in common score ranges so please indicate if more than one date works for your son or daughter. Because this is historically a popular class, several sections are offered.
Learning from the Practice ACT Cost: $165
Wednesday, January 20, 3:15-6:15
By popular demand, one more section of this class is offered. All problems missed by students registered will be explained. Underlying concepts will be reviewed so students leave with a full understanding of the material covered by the ACT. Class size is limited.
ACT Science Bootcamp Cost: $110
Sunday, January 31st, 1:00-3:00
Learn to work faster and more accurately on the test section that sets the ACT apart. Students will be provided with a practice test to take at home after class.
2016 SAT Writing and Language Bootcamp Cost: $110
Saturday, January 30th, 3:00-5:00
The grammar, punctuation, and writing concepts necessary to ace the Writing and Language section of the new SAT will be explained in-depth.
2016 SAT Math Bootcamp Cost: $110
Sunday, January 31st, 3:00-5:00
The medium and difficult questions from both the calculator and non-calculator sections of the test will be reviewed. For repetition of key concepts, not only College Board original problems, but also replica problems will be offered to solidify students’ understanding.
Each month, classes will be offered after school and on weekends to prepare students for the various sections of the ACT and SAT through the end of the school year. Please check Parker’s Learning Center website as well as blast emails to view the up-to-date schedule.

Individual Test Prep Tutoring
Individual test prep tutoring is available during free periods, lunch, and some after-school and weekend hours.
Recommended workbooks: The College Board's The Official SAT Study Guide (2016 Edition) or Peterson's The Real ACT Prep Guide. Both books include practice tests. In addition to one-on-one support, students receive handout materials and other resources to build understanding and skills.
Scheduling: Please email Lorna Kocian to arrange times for individual tutoring.
Cost: $95 per one-hour session
Most sessions are held in the College Counseling/Learning Center upstairs in the Peters Family Building. Fees will be billed to student accounts.

Registration and Cancellation Policy

Email Ms. Kocian before the first session. Registration confirmation is sent by email. Class registration may be canceled up to one week before start date without incurring charges.
Individual tutoring sessions must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations with less than a 24-hour notices will incur a 50 percent cancellation fee.
Make-up classes/sessions will be scheduled based the availability and discretion of the teacher; outlines and materials will be made available for the missed class or session.

about Lorna Kocian
Lorna is an experienced teacher/tutor who has been supporting San Diego Students for more than 18 years.
Prior to creating her own test preparation business, Lorna worked with students in the Parker Learning Center. Lorna has used her years of experience with standardized testing to create many of her own materials, which will be used in the Parker program. Her expertise has been validated by the successes of the students she has taught.
