Steve earned a BA in sculpture from Penn State, working extensively in clay and bronze. He studied in Taiwan at Fu Ren University and National Taiwan University.
For several years, he lived in Asia, taught English, hosted a radio language program, edited academic papers, and worked as a stuntman, shuttle-boat operator and adventure tour operator. After almost six years, he returned to the United States to further his education.
Steve earned an MFA from Cal Arts in 1992. His work won awards at film festivals and was screened in the United States, Canada, Germany, and Italy. He worked in film and video in various capacities —from an extra on "Baywatch" to a cameraman in Ethiopia for a documentary on war and famine victims.
He moved to San Diego in 1998 and started at Parker in 1999.
Steve has taught martial arts for 20 years, following more than 10 years of training with international masters in Taiwan, The Philippines, and the United States.
When not at school, he spends time with his wife, two sons, three dogs and four cats. He enjoys throwing pots, sculpting, gardening, camping, marksmanship, swimming in the ocean and biking.
