Lower School Student Council and Clubs
Our Lower School Student Council is made up of elected representatives from grades 1-4, one student per class, and elected officers from grade 5, two per class. The Council changes each trimester, and a fifth grader is elected as president by the entire student body through approval voting. The council meets each week to talk about school issues, community service ideas and to discuss and organize school-wide activities.
The Lower School Squires is a group of fifth graders who help with admissions events and other school activities requiring student guides. Students are selected based on their interest, their academic achievement and their citizenship. Ultimately, they are trained to lead tours around the campus, answering questions of those who visit (primarily families interested in enrolling in the school). This program has become a mainstay in our admissions process, and new families frequently comment that it was the Squires that convinced them to enroll.
