"The Upper School academic, artistic and athletic programs are designed to challenge students to learn, think, create and act with purpose and thoughtfulness."
- Mr. Paul Barsky, Head of Upper School
Academic excellence is at the core of the Parker experience. Since 1912, our educators have been encouraging students to stretch academically, to solve authentic problems using in-depth analysis, to work effectively in partnership with others and to become knowledgeable, empathetic, global citizens.
In the Upper School, the growth of each student is fostered through a rigorous academic program that includes college-level courses such as multivariable calculus and honors organic chemistry. Visual arts students work in fully-equipped studios designed specifically for ceramics, sculpture (bronze and stone), woodworking, motion media, photography, painting and digital design. Parker student-athletes may choose from one of 23 sport teams including volleyball, sailing, football and lacrosse.
When it comes to the college search and application process, Parker’s college counselors are nationally recognized experts who invest time with each student to help them find the best personal fit and chart their course for future success.
Francis Parker School is a private, independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 from across San Diego County. Founded in 1912, the Lower School is located on the Mission Hills Campus with the Upper and Middle Schools on the Linda Vista Campus. Parker's mission is to inspire a diverse community of independent thinkers whose academic excellence, global perspective and strength of character prepare them to make a meaningful difference in the world.
