David Wellis

David is the CEO of the San Diego Blood Bank.  Previously, he spent 20 years in leadership roles at several life science and drug discovery companies, including  Axon Instruments, Genvault Corporation, Illumina Inc. and BioAtla.  He is on the Executive Committee of the Clinical and Translational Research Institute at UC San Diego and on the Boards of Triton Health and Nutrition; Verdant Therapeutics and Gentegra.

David received a BS from the UC Irvine, MS and PhD from Emory University, postdoctoral training at Tufts University Medical School and UC Berkeley, and business training at Leavey Business School of Santa Clara University and Haas Business School at UC Berkeley. Dr. Wellis has been an active member of the Young President’s Organization since 2008.

He has served on the Parker Strategic Initiatives and Academic Affairs Committee since 2012.  David and his wife, Vinit, a pediatric anesthesiologist, have a son, Kevin, Class of 2014, and a daughter, Lara, Class of 2018.
Francis Parker School is a private, independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 from across San Diego County.
