Our golf team played on Thursday, October 27, against Eastlake, in a CIF play-in match.  The Lancers defeated the Titans 221-252.  Brooke Seay fired a three under par 33 on the Riverwalk Friars Course.   With the victory, the Lancers qualified for the CIF Team Championships which will be held at Admiral Baker Golf Course on Tuesday, November 1 where Brooke will attempt to defend the CIF championship she won last year.
Girls Volleyball
Our volleyball team played two matches last week.  On Wednesday, October 26, the Lancers lost to LJCD 3-1 in front of a raucous crowd in the Fieldhouse. The Lancers were close especially in game three when they were swinging to win the game and go up two games to one.  Unfortunately the Torreys made a nice defensive play and ultimately won 26-24.  Sophia Galdamez had 12 kills to lead the Lancers.  Bea Thomas had 10 kills and 2 solo blocks.  Aeriel Sundt had 8 kills 10 digs, and 7 ace serves.  Berkley Hayes had 3 aces and Hannah Blood had 36 assists.
The Lancers finished up Coastal League play with a 3-0 loss to Bishops.  The Lancers were close, losing games one and three 25-23, but the Knights had a little too much firepower.  Bea Thomas led the team with 11 kills and 2 blocks.  Aeriel Sundt and Sophia Galdamez each had 8 kills.  On defense the Lancers were led by Maggie Oswald who had 13 digs and Berkley Hayes who had 6 digs.
The Lancers will open the CIF Division I playoffs on Tuesday, November 1, at San Dieguito Academy.  Game time is 7pm.
Cross Country
Our cross country competed on Thursday, October 27, at UCSD in the final Coastal League meet.  In the girls’ race the Lancers defeated LJCD, SFC, and Pacific Ridge by a large margin.  Our top five runners all finished in the top 12 overall led by race winner Brooke Trossen.  Brooke ran the 3 mile race in a time of 18:34.  Sophia Gamboa came in third place with a time of 19:06.  Also finishing in the top 12 in a field of 51, were Avi Waldman (8), Frannie Lang (9), and Maya Pratt-Freedman (12)
Our boys also won their race, avenging a loss to Bishops in the first Coastal League meet.  The Lancers top five finishers all finished in the top 10 overall.  Tanner Penrose came in second with a time of 16:59 over the 3 mile course.  Ben Baranski and Carson Cook tied for fourth in a time of 17:22.  Also finishing in the top 10 were Evan Truesdale (7) and James Greer-Gentis (10).
The Lancers will run on Wednesday, November 2 in the Sea World time trial #2.

Sand Volleyball
Our sand team travelled to Dog Beach in Del Mar on Tuesday, October 25, where they lost to Torrey Pines in the Open Division quarterfinals.  Every match went down to the last couple of points, but the Falcons had a little too much experience and court savvy.  All five of our teams played their best matches of the year.  Our #1 team of Adam Gordon/David Barrett, #2 team of Chris Fromm/Zach Thoene and possibly our #3 team of Adam Nussbaum/Nick Gustafson will be playing in the county doubles championships on Wednesday, November 2 and Thursday November 3 at Ocean Beach.
