Parker Sports Wrap for the Week of Nov. 28 - Dec. 3

Girls Soccer
Our soccer team started their season with two wins this past week.  On Wednesday, November 30, the Lancers defeated the visiting Komets from Kearney, 9-1.  Maya Pratt-Freedman led the scoring barrage with two goals.  Sarah Effress,  Brianna Whalen and Lily Hunt each had a goal and an assist.  Also finding the back of the net were:  Rebecca Siegler, Emily Bowden, Erin Shives, and Natalie Hickey.  
On Saturday, the Lancers opened the first round of the Baron’s Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Hilltop.  Maya Pratt-Freedman scored the lone goal off an assist from Sarah Effress.  Goalkeeper, Kailie Thomas made two saves to record the shutout victory.
The Lancers will host their second round game in the Baron’s tournament on Tuesday, December 6, at 6pm on Lauer Field.
Boys Soccer
Our boys team jumped out to a 4-0 start this past week.  The Lancers opened the week with a 2-0 victory over Christian on Monday, November 28, on Lauer Field.  Lancer goals were scored by Ryan Watson and Alex Hernandez.  On Wednesday, the Lancers continued to roll with a 1-0 victory over Patrick Henry in the opening game of the Parker Cup Tournament.  The winning goal was scored by Santiago Morera.  On Friday, the Lancers went to 2-0 in Parker Cup action with a 1-0 victory over Ramona.  Santiago Morera again “torched” the net for the winning goal. The Lancers kept their winning streak going on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Mira Mesa.  Goals were scored by Peter Valverde and Bryce Dethloff.  
Led by goalie, Tyler Dunne, and the defense did not allow one goal in their four games last week.  The Lancers will return to action on Monday, December 5, at 6pm, against University City, in the semi-finals of the Parker Cup.  Good Luck Lancers!!
Girls Basketball
Our Girls Basketball team opened their season with an exciting, hard fought 37-34 loss to the Escondido Adventist Academy.  After a slow start, which saw the Lancers down 12-4 at the end of the first quarter, they clawed back and were down 19-18 at the half.  The rest of the game saw multiple lead changes, ending in a three point victory for the Hawks.
Leading the way for the Lancers was Sophia Galdamez who finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds.  Point guard, Giselle Alota, had 7 point and 3 assists.  Sofia Carrillo pulled down 9 rebounds and “tickled the twine” for 6 points.  Emily Morfoot had 4 assists to lead the team in that category.
The Lancers will be back in action on Tuesday, December 6, against O’Farrell, at 5:30pm on Hillgren Court.  Go Lancers!
Boys Basketball
Our boys team opened their season with a 56-47 victory over Mission Vista on Wednesday, November 30.  In front of an enthusiastic Wednesday night crowd, the game was close until Jack Brady hit 3 three point shots at the end of the second quarter to give the Lancers a 33-16 halftime lead.  Mission Vista outscored the Lancers 16-6 in the third quarter to make the game interesting.  Ultimately the Lancers had to too much firepower and went on to the nine point victory.
Jack Brady ended up with 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Matt Brady finished with 16 points and a team leading 5 assists.  Alex White made his presence felt with 7 points and 12 rebounds.  Jacob Jovien finished with 7 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lancers will be back on Hillgren Court against O’Farrell on Tuesday, December 6, at 7pm.
