Parker Sports Wrap for the Week of February 6 - 10

Girls Basketball

Our Girls’ Basketball team improved their record to 18-4 and 8-0 in the Pacific League with two big wins last week.  On Tuesday, February 7, the Lancers defeated Orange Glen, 65-31 on Hillgren Court.  Giselle Alota finished with 24 points and 5 assists.  Jula Harrington had 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Meredith Wiggins “knocked down” 12 points and had 4 assists.  Sofia Carrillo finished with 10 rebounds and 3 steals.

On Friday, the Lancers played perhaps their best game of the year, defeating Pacific Ridge 70-40. The Firebirds kept it close, but ultimately wilted under the Lancers relentless pressure.  Meredith Wiggins finished with 30 points and 6 steals.  Giselle Alota had 25 points and 10 assists.  Sofia Carrillo made her presence felt inside with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  Jula Harrington “pulled down” a season high 15 rebounds.  Freshmen, Mackenzie Parker and Arrington Jones contributed to the Lancer’s victory in their most significant minutes of the season.

The Lancers travel to Maranatha Christian on Tuesday, February 14.  A win will wrap up the Pacific League title for the Lancers.

Boys Basketball

Our boys are 11-10 overall after their two games last week.  On Tuesday, February 7, the Lancers travelled to Santa Fe Christian where they jumped out to a 14-6 first quarter lead. The Eagles took over in the second quarter and never looked back.  Alec White led the team with 16 points and 9 rebounds.  Jacob Jovien finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds.  

On Friday, the Lancers were on the road as the travelled to LJCD where they lost to the Torreys.  The Lancers will be back in action when they host a talented Orange Glen team on Tuesday, February 14, at 7:30pm.  The Lancers will honor their seniors in a pre-game ceremony on Friday, February 17.

The Lancer Legion was got a little “big headed” at a recent game.

Girls Soccer

Our Girls’ Soccer team is 12-6-5 after their two games this past week.  On Wednesday, February 8, the Lancers travelled to Pacific Ridge where they defeated the Firebirds, 4-1.  Lancer goals were scored by Maya Pratt-Freedman, Lakme Caceres, Jeyan Kirtay, and Brooke Trossen.  Brooke also had an assist as did Erin Shives and Rebecca Siegler.

On Friday, the Lancers travelled to Santa Fe Christian, where they outshot the Eagles 13-7, but lost the contest 1-0.  The Eagles scored the game winner in the second half.  The Lancer will be on the road Wednesday, February 15,  when they travel to Bishops in a pivotal Coastal League game.

Boys Soccer

Our boys travelled to Orange Glen on Monday, February 6, where they tied the Patriots 1-1.  The Lancer goal was scored by Luca Marcelli off of an assist by Henry Diamond-Pott.

On Wednesday, the Lancers honored Alex Aceves-Rodriguez, Eric Brown, Liam Crowley, Alex Goskowicz, James Greer-Gentis, T Will Mann, and Santiago Morera in a pre-game Senior Night ceremony.  They celebrated by pounding out a 4-1 victory over Pacific Ridge.  Alex Aceves Rodriguez scored two goals off of assists from Santiago Morera and Liam Crowley.  T Will Mann scored off an assist from Ryan Watson.  The final goal was scored by Eric Brown.

Our team is 11-4-4 overall and 5-2-2 in the Coastal League.  The Lancers will be back in action when they travel to Pacific Ridge on Monday, February 13.
