Parker Sailing

On February 25th and 26th, the Parker Sailing team travelled to San Francisco to compete against 32 other high school sailing teams in the 2017 Golden Bear Regatta. Winds were light and shifty on Saturday and the air temperature never rose above 50 degrees.  After 6 challenging races on Saturday, Parker was sitting in 4th place overall in the regatta.   Sunday, winds were more consistent at 6 to 8 knots with air temperatures hovering around 50 degrees.  The team maintained their composure and ripped off a series of single digit finishes (3rd, 13th, 1st,3rd, 5th, and 2nd) in the very challenging 32 boat Gold Fleet.  In the end Parker won the regatta by 18 points.

Our “A” Division Team of skipper, Cole Harris and crew, Annabelle Huyard came in fourth place.  Our “B” Division team of skipper, Sam Merson and crew, Madeleine McGrath came in first.  The combination of the scores of both teams won the overall regatta for the Lancers.

Next up is the Gaucho regatta in Santa Barbara on March 11 to 12th.  Parker is currently ranked 4th out of 51 teams in the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association, with two more regattas to go.
