Parker Sports Wrap for the Week of May 22 - 27

Boys Volleyball
Our Boys’ Volleyball season came to a close on Tuesday, May 23, when they travelled to Calabasas High for the first round of the State Playoffs.  The Coyotes were ranked #14 in the state.  The Lancers jumped out to an early leads in both game one and game two before losing 24-26 and 29-31.  Game three was all Lancers as they cruised to a 25-20 victory.  The Lancers continued to battle but ultimately lost game four.  
Adam Gordon led the offense with 24 kills on 42 attempts and 6 blocks.  Chris Fromm had 15 kills and a .345 hitting percentage.  Sophomore, Nick Gustafson finished with 12 kills and sophomore middle, Bijan Sagart had a team leading 7 blocks.  Sophomore setter, Adam Nussbaum had 52 assists and 14 digs.  David Barrett led the Lancers in digs with 16.
Adam Gordon was chosen as the UT Athlete of the Week for leading our team to the CIF D1 championship last week.  He will also be playing in the county all star game on Wednesday, May 31 at Miramar College.  Adam will be continue his volleyball career next year at Harvard.

Our baseball team played three times this past week in the the CIF Division 1 playoffs.  The #2 seeded Lancers opened the week with  a 5-2 loss to Granite Hills on Wednesday, May 24.  Sterling Hayes was 2 for 3 at the plate and Jimmy Chatfield went 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Ethan Risse and Joseph Cetale pitched for the Lancers.  The Lancers were up 2-1 in the top of the sixth when the Eagles scored four runs to secure the victory.
On Friday, in the elimination game, the Lancers were down 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth against LJCD, when they rallied to score four runs.  Ethan Risse had a homerun.  Evan Stewart and Ben Krongard each had 2 RBI’s.  Sterling Hayes pitched six innings and gave up four runs.  Freshman Joseph Cetale pitched one inning, striking out two and recorded the save.
With the victory, the Lancers advanced to another win or go home game against Scripps Ranch.  
The game was tied 1-1 after three innings.  The Lancers’ run coming on a Michael Campagna home run.  The Lancers erupted for three runs in the bottom of the fourth and never looked back winning 6-1.  Nick Allen was 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and 2 RBI’s.  Jimmy Chatfield also had a home run.  Evan Stewart pitched 5.2 innings and allowed just one earned run for the victory.  Joseph Cetale did not allow a hit to the four batters he faced.
The Lancers will play on Tuesday, May 30, at 3:30pm on Greenberg Field in a rematch against Granite Hills as they continue on their quest for the CIF D1 Title.

Track and Field
Our track team had two athletes represent Parker at the CIF Championship meet that was held at Mt. Carmel High on Saturday, May 27.  Brooke Trossen competed in the 1600m and Maya Pratt-Freedman jumped 4’11” in the high jump.
In other track news, 2015 graduate and CIF champion, Christian Sourapas finished in third place in the 200m at the Pac 12 Championships in a time of 20.53.
