Parker Sports Wrap 9/25 - 10/1
Cross Country -
The boys and girls teams both participated in the Downey Classic last Thursday.  On the boys side, Asher Ellis finished 10th out 196 runners to help the JV team take first place Div 5.  The Boys Varsity team finished in first place, led by senior Tanner Penrose, who finished 7th out of 176 total runners.  

Despite being down 2 of the team’s top runners, the Girls team had a great race as well. Avi Waldman and Haley Gale both ran great races, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively.

Boys Sand Volleyball -
Our Sand Volleyball team continued to roll with a 3-2 victory over St. Augustine on Wednesday, September 27.  On a beautiful Fall afternoon, the Lancers improved their overall record to 3-0 and are 2-0 in league play.  The Lancers were led by our #1 doubles team of David Barrett/Nick Gustafson who won 21-12 and 21-14.  Our #3 team of Axel Youngdale/Aries Zander won convincingly 21-11 and 21-16,  Finally our #5 team of Mark Tankersley/Chris Fromm won 17-21,21-12, and 15-10.

The Lancers will be back in action when they travel to Coronado on Thursday, October 5.

Girl’s Golf -
The Girl’s Golf team defeated Bishop’s in a league dual match on Monday.  Caroline Garay shot a personal low score of 33, with that 9 hole score earning her medalist honors.  Senior Sofia Carrillo also tied her personal best round.

Girl’s Volleyball -
On Wednesday, the Girl’s volleyball team lost their only match of the week last Tuesday to Bishop’s in 3 games.

So far this season, Senior Beatrix Thomas leads the team with 90 kills, followed by senior Aeriel Sundt, who has 88.  Sophomore Arrington Jones has 11 blocks on the season, and senior Hanna Blood has 306 Assists

Girl’s Tennis -
The Girl’s Tennis team split their two matches last week, defeating Vicent Memorial on Tuesday by a score of 10-6, before dropping their match on Thursday to Bishop’s by a score of 2-16.

The team will be busy in action this coming week, with 3 matches.  The team has a home match against Vincent Memorial on Tuesday, 10/3, sandwiched between away matches at La Jolla High School on Monday 10/2 and Pacific Ridge on Thursday 10/5.

Football -
The football team notched their first victory of the season on Friday with an exciting come from behind victory over San Ysidro High School by a score of 17-14.  

Junior Ryan Sanborn led the Lancer’s offense with 91 yards rushing, including the go ahead touchdown with just over 6 minutes to play in the game.  The touchdown was set up when Sam Camposeco sacked and stripped the San Ysidro quarterback, followed by junior Noah Schneider recovering the fumble.

The lancers will be at home for each of the next two weeks as they begin league play this Friday 10/6 against Escondido Charter, followed by their Senior night the following week when they host Montgomery on 10/13.  Both games will kickoff at 7pm
