Parker Sports Wrap 10/2 - 10/8

Boy's Sand Volleyball
Sand volleyball lost 1-4 to Coronado on Thursday. Four of the matches went to three games. Mark Tankersley and Collin Green won their match two games to one.  The Lancers will be back in action on Thursday against Point Loma at Ocean Beach.  

Girl’s Golf
The Girl’s golf team went 2-0 last week, winning both of their league matches, defeating Bishop’s on Tuesday and Orange Glen on Thursday.  Both victories helped the team stay undefeated in league play, with only two league matches remaining.

On Thursday, Junior Emma Buechler and Senior Sofia Carrillo both shot new personal best scores.  Caroline Garay was the medalist for both matches.   

Caroline Garay is currently ranked #1 in the Coastal League and #7 in CIF.  Emma Buechler is ranked 5th in the league and is close to qualifying as an individual for CIF.

They will finish out the league season with matches vs La Jolla Country Day and Orange Glen next week, followed by the league tournament on October 17th.

Girl’s Volleyball -
Girl’s Volleyball split their two league matches this week.  

After dropping the first match on Tuesday vs Classical Academy, they bounced back to defeat Pacific Ridge on Thursday in a dramatic come from behind victory.  Despite losing the first two games of the match, the lancers rallied to take the final 3 games, winning the match in 5.  It was a great comeback and team effort by the entire team!

Girl’s Tennis -
Girls Tennis had a busy week, going 1-2 in their 3 matches.. After dropping their first match of the week to La Jolla HS 13-5, they rebounded for a 14-4 league victory over Vincent Memorial. They lost their final match of the week to Pacific Ridge by a score of 11-7.

The Lancers are back in action twice next week with matches against league rivals Bishop’s and La Jolla Country Day.

Football -
The football team won their second straight game on Friday, opening league play with a 35-18 win over Escondido Charter..  

Junior Ryan Sanborn rushed for 159 yards and 4 touchdowns, and Sophomore Trevor Brokowski added 144 rushing yards and a touchdown of his own.

The Lancer defense was led by junior safety Jon Gordon who made 7 tackles in addition to his 2 pass break ups.  Senior lineman Bryan Shaw added 3 sacks and 2 caused fumbles, both of which were recovered by Apolo Samikoglu.

The Lancers are back at home for their senior night next Friday, 10/13, as they take on Montgomery High School.  The game kicks off at 7pm.
