Parker Sports Wrap 10/16 - 10/22

Cross Country
The team had effort on Friday, depsite running a new course with a rushed schedule.  They raced against some of the largest and fastest high schools in the county and fared very well.  The girls team took 10th place overall but were the 1st Div 5 team to cross the line.  The boys also finished as the 1st Div 5 team across the line with a 19th place overall. 

They will run again next Thursday, 10/26 at the Coastal Cluster Meet at Tecelote Shores.

Boy's Sand Volleybal
Our sand volleyball team travelled to San Marcos, on Wednesday, October 18, and defeated the Knights 5-0 in the first round of the Division I County Championships. All five of our teams played perhaps their best matches of the year. David Barrett and Nick Gustafson won their match with a 15-8 score in game three. Our #2 team of Spencer Thoene and Bijan Sagart won their second straight match and has been our most improved team over the second half of the season.  With the victory, the Lancers advance to the semi-finals against La Jolla on Monday, October 10, at "The Pit" in Mission Bay Park at 4pm.
In other sand volleyball action, Rafter Sprague and Leonard Daniels came in second place in the 32 team, JV championships on Friday, October 20 at Ocean Beach.

Girl’s Golf
The Girl’s golf team played in the Coastal Conference Tournament on Tuesday and emerged victorious, giving them both the regular season and tournament league championships.

Caroline Garay was the medalist of the match shooting a score of 36.  In doing so, she has qualified for the CIF individual championship tournament. 

Girl’s Tennis -
The girl's tennis team finished out their regular season with a win over Pacific Ridge on Tuesday.  The final score had each team winning 9 matches, but when the games were counted, the Lancers prevailed, winning 70-69.  It was a great team win on Senior Day.  The team is currently waiting to see where it will fall in the playoffs.

Water Polo - 
Parker water polo secured their first ever varsity win on Saturday over Classical Academy at the Coggan family aquatic complex. Down 5-6 at the start of the fourth quarter juniors Carlos Andres Heredia and Adam Nussbaum drove the Lancers too an 8-7 comeback victory on offense while Sophomore goalie Spencer Lafferty shut down the Caiman’s attempts with 6 4th quarter saves.
The Junior Varsity squad started the days’ winning with a dominate 12-7 victory. 5 different athletes netted goals and Giancarlo Lopez was credited with the win in the cage!
Parkers’ inaugural water polo season will conclude this week with games against Pt. Loma and our final home game vs La Jolla Country day - 4:00 pm Friday October 27th at Coggan Family Aquatic complex.

Football -

The football team lost their first league game on Friday to Army Navy Academy by a score of 31-10.  T

Ryan Sanborn threw for 139 yards and ran for 67 yards.  Russell Childs caught 5 passes for 77 yards, while Jon Gordon added 3 catches for 
44 yards and scored the Lancers only touchdown.  Trevor Brokowski lead the defense with 11 tackles.

The Lancers play their final home game of the seaon this Saturday, 10/28 for Homecoming against Tri City Christian.  Kickoff is at 1:30pm
