Parker Sports Wrap for 10/23 - 10/29

Cross Country
Both the boy’s and girl’s teams took part in the Coastal Cluster meet at Tecleote Shores, and had an outstanding finish. The girls varsity team took 1st place, putting them in a tie atop the conference standings with Santa Fe Christian. The boys varsity took 1st place as well, and have now won both their league meets.

Both teams will compete again on Friday, 11/3 at a Preview of the Kit Carson Championship Invitational Course.

Boy's Sand Volleyball
This past week our varsity team had two big victories to win the County D1 Sand Volleyball Championship.  On Monday, the Lancers defeated La Jolla 4-1 in the semi-finals and on Wednesday defeated St. Augustine 4-1 for the title.  

On Friday, in the County Individual Pairs Championships, our #1 team of David Barrett and Nick Gustafson went 2-1 in pool play and qualified for the championship bracket which will be played at OB on Wednesday, November 1.  Our #2 team of Bijan Sagart and Spencer Thoene qualified for the silver bracket finals.

Girl’s Volleyball
The Girl’s Volleyball team lost both of their matches last week, losing in 3 games to Pacific Ridge on Tuesday, and then to La Jolla Country Day on Thursday.

Aeriel Sundt led the lancers with 11 Kills vs Pacific Ridge and 13 kills vs La Jolla Country Day.  Senior Hannah Blood combined for 65 Assists in the two matches.

The Lancers will play at Del Norte High school in the first round of the CIF Division 1 playoffs.  The game is on Wednesday, November 1st at 7pm.

Girl’s Tennis -
The girl's tennis team lost in the first round of the CIF Playoffs, falling to La Costa Canyon High School by a score of 11-7

Water Polo -
Parker water polo secured their first ever varsity win on Saturday over Classical Academy at the Coggan family aquatic complex. Down 5-6 at the start of the fourth quarter juniors Carlos Andres Heredia and Adam Nussbaum drove the Lancers too an 8-7 comeback victory on offense while Sophomore goalie Spencer Lafferty shut down the Caiman’s attempts with 6 4th quarter saves.
The Junior Varsity squad started the days’ winning with a dominate 12-7 victory. 5 different athletes netted goals and Giancarlo Lopez was credited with the win in the cage!
Parkers’ inaugural water polo season will conclude this week with games against Pt. Loma and our final home game vs La Jolla Country day - 4:00 pm Friday October 27th at Coggan Family Aquatic complex.

Football -
The football team fell to Tri City Christian by a score of 41-23.

Junior Ryan Sanborn threw for 306 yards and 1 touchdown, while also running for 61 yards and 2 more scores.  Senior Jack Sachrison caught 6 passes for 115 yards and touchdown, and Junior Jon Gordon caught 7 passes for 106 yards.  Sophomore Sam Camposeco led the Lancer defense with 15 tackles.

The Lancers play their regular season game next Friday, November 3rd at Maranatha Christian.  The game kicks off at 7pm.


The Parker Surf Team had their first surf contest this Sunday at Avalanche in Ocean Beach.  Rebecca Siegler and Nick Gustafson competed for our team.  Rebecca surfed in women's shortboard and Nick surfed in men's short and long board.

Rebecca made it to the finals where she took 1st place!
