Parker Sports Wrap 12/18 - 12/24

Girls Soccer -
The Girls Soccer won their only contest of the week on Thursday, when they defeated San Dieguito High School by a score of 2-1.  Rebecca Siegler and Hannah Mohedin each scored a goal for the Lancers, while Maia Carlson made 10 saves in goal to help secure the victory.

Their next games are the Ontario Christian Christmas Classic Tournament from December 27th, 28th, and 29th.

Finally, Rebecca Siegler was selected as one of the San Diego Union-Tribune Athletes of the Week this week for her performance on the field in last weeks games.

With five goals in four wins, the senior led the Lancers to the University City Holiday Jubilee Gold Division championship. She scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Olympian for the title.

Boys Soccer -
After falling in their first match of the week to Crawford High School, the Boys Soccer team rebounded nicely on Thursday, as they battled Valhalla High School to a 0-0 draw.  Goalkeepers Ben Krongard and Tyler Dunne combined for the shutout.

Their next game is not until Tuesday, January 9th, when they will host Grossmont High School at 6pm.

Girls Basketball -
The Girls Basketball team dropped their first two games last week, losing a hard fought 56-51 battle to Canyon Crest on Monday, and then to Eastlake on Tuesday.  They followed up with a solid performance on Wednesday, defeating Chula Vista High School 46-28.  They were led by Senior Giselle Alota who had 26 points and 10 steals.  Freshman Jayleah Raymond who pitched in 10 points of her own.

You can catch them in action over the Holiday Break, as they will play in the Sweetwater New Year’s tournament at Sweetwater High School. Their games are on January 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

Boys Basketball -
While the Lancers did not play again this week, you can catch them in action over the Holiday Break as they will play in the Tri City Christian tournament at Tri City Christian High School.  Their games are on December 27th, 28th, and 29th.

Squash -
On Saturday, December 1, the Francis Parker School squash team played its first tournament of the 2017-2018 season.
At this tournament held in Aliso Viejo, Parker competed against teams from Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Irvine and San Diego.
The top team was comprised of the following players:  Pratyek Koppolu '18, Zachary Hall '18, Nicholas Miller '18, Subbareddy Duvuuru '18, and Jack Haynes '18.  Parker’s second team is comprised currently of the following players:   Wyatt Williams '18, Andrew Lezny '18, Garret Hoff '18, Jeremy Lin '21, Toby Sacamay ’21 and Bella Suhota ’21.
The first five players crushed their competition with the top four players not dropping a single game in their four team matches. This team beat the following schools:  Sequoyah (5-0), Bishop’s (5-0, including Bishop’s forfeits at #4 and #5), Cate (4-1) and Irvine (5-0).  Parker’s second team held its own against squads from Cate, Sequoyah, Bishop’s and Santa Barbara School of Squash, going 2-2 in its team matches.
All players are off until classes recommence in January.  The next competition for squash will be held in Pasadena at the Arroyo Seco Racquet Club on January 20 (A Division) and January 21 (B Division).
