Parker Sports Wrap 1/8 - 1/13

Girls Soccer -
The Girls Soccer team won both of their contests this week , defeating La Jolla Country Day 3-1 on Tuesday, and then following up with a 4-1 victory over Mountain Empire on Friday.

In Tuesday’s win, Senior Rebecca Siegler scored two goals, while Freshman Hannah Mohedin notched a goal and an assist.

Friday’s win featured another goal from Siegler, as well as Sarah Effress, Maya Pratt-Freedman, and Lakme Caceres.

The Lancers only match next week is on Thursday, 1/18, when they travel to Escondidio Charter.  The game will start at 6pm.


Boys Soccer -
The Boys Soccer team had a winning week, playing Grossmont High School to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday, before getting their first win of the season by defeating the previously undefeated Preuss School on Friday night.  

Senior Goalkeeper Tyler Dunne recorded the shutout in Tuesday’s game, while Henry Diamond-Pott and Laurent Cotter scored the two goals on Friday to help the Lancers secure their first victory

Next week, the Lancers travel to Orange Glen High School on Tuesday, 1/16, and then will host the San Diego Jewish Academy on Thursday, 1/18.  Both games start at 6pm .


Girls Basketball -
The Girls Basketball team split their 2 games this week.  After falling to La Jolla Country Day on Friday, they bounced back to the tune of a 45-43 victory over Ramona High School on Saturday morning.  Freshman Jazmin Brooks led the Lancer offense with 24 points while Senior Jula Harrington grabbed 9 rebounds..

The Lancers will play twice at home this week, as they host Steele Canyon high school at 5:30pm on Tuesday 1/16, as well as Santa Fe Christian at 6pm on Friday 1/19


Boys Basketball -
The Boys basketball team went 1-2 on the week.  After defeating Victory Christian Academy on Tuesday, they lost two very closely contested league games, falling 64-61 to Army Navy Academy, and then 53-52 to La Jolla Country Day.

Sophomore Kimo Ferrari made his debut for the Lancers on Tuesday, scoring 13 points and dishing out 7 assists in the win over Victory Christian.  Junior Jacob Jovien led the Lancers in scoring vs Army Navy with 18 points. In Friday’s game vs LJCD, Matt Bender had 21 points and 14 rebounds

The Lancers will play twice at home this week, as they host Kearny high school at 7pm on Tuesday 1/16, as well as Santa Fe Christian at 7:30pm on Friday 1/19



Surfing -
In their contest last Sunday, Maddy Giek, Leo Baez, and Asher Ellis competed this Sunday at Ponto Beach in Carlsbad.  Maddy surfed in women's long board and made it through to the semi-finals, where she finished in 5th place.  Leo surfed in men's long board and made it through to the quarter finals, where he finished in 4th place.  Asher surfed in men's short board and made it through to the second round, where he finished in 5th place.  All three surfed very well!
