Girls Soccer -
The Girls Soccer played twice last week, losing both matches, and dropping their overall record to 12-9 for the season. On Tuesday, they travelled to Bishop’s, falling by a score of 5-0, and then hosted Cathedral Catholic on Wednesday night in a very competitive 2-0 loss.
Despite failing to score in either contest, the Lancers outshot both opponents. Rebecca Siegler and Lily Hunt led the way, each with 4 shots on goal a piece.
Next week, the Lancers will play twice, with both games coming at home. First, on Tuesday, 2/6, they will host Escondido Charter. Then, on Thursday 2/8, they will host Pacific Ridge. Both games start at 6pm.
Boys Soccer -
The Boys Soccer team played twice this week, and both times they battled hard to earn a draw. They still have yet to suffer a loss to a league opponent.
On Tuesday, they played Bishops to a 1-1 Tie, with the lone goal coming off the foot of Sophomore Aidan Scudder. In a showdown with first place Orange Glen on Friday, they earned a 2-2 tie, with Ryan Watson netting both Lancer goals.
Next week, the Lancers are on the road twice, traveling to Pacific Ridge on Tuesday, 2/6 for a 6pm match, followed by a trip to Santa Fe Christian on Thursday, 2/8, when their game starts at 3:30pm
Girls Basketball -
The Girls Basketball split their two games this week, bringing their overall record to 10-9. On Wednesday, they lost when they travelled to Bishops, but bounced back and picked up a non league win on Saturday with a 49-20 defeat of Central Union High School.
In Saturday’s victory, Senior Giselle Alota led the way for the Lancers offensively, pouring in 24 points, in addition to her 6 assists and 5 steals. Senior Jula Harrington was dominant on the glass, grabbing 10 rebounds to help her team secure the win.
This week, you can catch the Lancers in action just once, as they travel to take on La Jolla Country Day on Wednesday, 2/7. The game tips off at 6pm.
Boys Basketball -
The Boys team had a winning week, picking up 2 league victories, as they defeated Bishops 61-39 on Wednesday night, and then beat Orange Glen in a 54-52 barn burner that came down to the final seconds on Friday. They also put up a valiant effort on Saturday afternoon, falling to Torrey Pines High School by a final of 72-63.
In Wednesday’s victory, Freshman Daryl Sledge led the Lancers in scoring hitting 6 three pointers on his way to 20 points. Sophomore Kimo Ferrari also pitched in 20 points of his own to go with 8 rebounds and 7 assists. In last night’s victory, Junior Matt Bender posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jacob Jovien added 11 points and 6 rebounds of his own.
On Saturday, Ferrari notched his first triple double of the season, with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. Junior Max Guinn made his first start of the year, and had 12 points, including 4 three pointers.
The Lancer’s are in action twice next week, travelling on Wednesday, 2/7 to La Jolla Country Day, and then hosting Army-Navy Academy on Friday 2/9. Both games tip off at 7:30pm.
