Good health and consistent class attendance are essential for student achievement.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to achieve optimal health while on campus, and receive medical care if warranted, a registered nurse is available on the Mission Hills Campus.
Speech, vision, hearing and occupational therapy screenings are available early in the school year, and parents are encouraged to take advantage of these services.
The school nurse oversees and coordinates all medical services provided on campus including administration of any prescription or over-the-counter medications required by students during the school day.
When a student requires medical attention while on campus, the School nurse is responsible for assessing and treating the illnesses or injuries, then making the appropriate referrals as necessary.
In addition, the School nurse provides health education and oversees implementation of the nutrition guidelines in School-provided meals. Student medical records, including immunization compliance, are reviewed and maintained by the School nurse.
