Parker Students Honored at the 2017 Youth Art Month Exhibit

A total of 11 Parker students were honored at the 2017 Youth Art Month (YAM) Exhibit currently being hosted at Parker’s James Alan Rose Art Gallery on the Linda Vista Campus. The Youth Art Month is an annual juried exhibition of 130 pieces produced by students in grades K-12 from around the San Diego County. Curated by the San Diego Art Education Association (SDCAEA) the event aims to celebrate young artist and provide them with the opportunity to have their work professionally displayed and showcased in the community.

This year, Parker students from both Middle and Upper won awards for their work. Middle School students Leo Baez, Addy Phillips, Tulliver Cook and Kat Hass all in the Class of 2021 won first, second, third and honorable mention respectively for the K-8 Three Dimensional Art category. See below for the whole list of 2017 YAM Exhibit winners. Award winners have the opportunity to advance onto the 2017 Southern Area Regional Youth Art Month Exhibition.

YAM will be on display at Parker until March. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Come meet the artist in person at the closing reception on Sunday, March 5 from 1-2:30 pm with an awards ceremony at 1:30 pm.
