Kulvinder Kaur Dhew & Bruce Dehnert Exhibit at the James Alan Rose Gallery
Kulvinder Kaur Dhew & Bruce Dehnert James Alan Rose Gallery 3-17-17 to 4-26-17
Kulvinder Kaur Dhew and Bruce Dehnert come together to exhibit at the James Alan Rose Gallery in San Diego, California. Dhew, whose paintings, drawings and digital prints have been included in collections as assorted as Kazuo Ishiguru and MTV Europe; and Dehnert, an esteemed potter and sculptor, are artists whose work can often reference similar themes using very different media.
In this exhibition, Dhew’s drawings are a sustained exploration of charcoal on paper and depict elemental climatic events. Dehnert presents a body of wood-fired ceramics that portray a decorative approach and the use of a kiln to provide a surface that presents the process through which the work has passed. As flames carry ash through the kiln, these elements leave a trace of their path as they go - an important aesthetic consideration.
The exhibit is on display from March 17 through April 26 at the James Alan Rose Gallery. The opening reception takes place Friday, March 17 from 3 to 8 pm.
