Parker Drama Department earns awards for 2016-17 season

Parker’s Drama Department earned four awards and six additional nominations for its 2016-17 season, which featured major performances, including Carrie: The Musical and Into the Woods. The awards will be presented by the National Youth Arts Organization in a ceremony July 2.

The awards included:
Lead Actor in a Musical: Jack Morrill, Class of 2019, as Baker in Into the Woods
Supporting Actress in a Musical: Gabi Leibowitz ‘17 as Witch in Into the Woods
Ensemble: Into the Woods
Direction: Elise Marinkovich for Into the Woods

The nominations were:
Outstanding Production: Into the Woods
Lead Actress in a Musical: Kaelyn Kappes ‘17 as Margaret White in Carrie: The Musical
Lead Actress in a Musical: Hershey Suri ‘17 as Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods
Supporting Actor in a Musical: Miles Blue, Class of 2020, as Lucinda/Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods
Supporting Actress in a Musical: Caleb Haberman, Class of 2020, as Little Red/Rapunzel in Into the Woods
Supporting Actress in a Musical: Emma Steiner ‘17 as Cinderella/Granny in Into the Woods

In addition, two Parker students were awarded medals and earned an overall superior rating for monologues they presented to judges at the International Thespian Festival. The festival took place June 19 to 24 in Lincoln, Nebraska. The students were Jack Morrill, Class of 2019, and Vaughn Melbourn, Class of 2019.
