Parker Cross Country Sweeps Coastal Conference Finals
On a beautiful day at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, the Lancer Cross Country teams won the Coastal League Championships in the Boys Junior Varsity, the Girls Varsity, and the Boys Varsity races. The championships were held Nov. 9.
In the girls race, Avi Waldman was the first Lancer across the line, finishing in 4th place overall in a field of 44 runners. Right behind her in 5th place was Frannie Lang in a time of 20.33 over the 5000m course. Also running in the “Parker Pack,” and finishing in 6th place was sophomore Lucy Recht. Also contributing to the big victory were Haley Gale and Vivian Benishek.
In the boys race, the Lancers had seven of the top 14 runners, and narrowly defeated Del Lago Academy for the title. Tanner Penrose finished in 2nd place overall in a time of 17:08 in a field of 46 runners. In 5th place was Zach Hall who was followed closely by Spencer Ruff and Carson Cook. Also finishing in the top 14 were Jeremy McCulloch, Alex Olmeta, and Asher Ellis. Peter Valverde came in 1st place in the boys JV race.
The Lancers now move on to the CIF Championships, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at Morley Field.
