    2019 - 2020
    Head Coach: Niki Dehner

Interscholastic athletics are an integral part of the total high school program. Athletics/PE contribute to building school spirit and the well-being of the entire student body. Our purpose is to promote sportsmanship, respect, responsibility and trustworthiness while contributing to physical growth and development. The health and welfare of our student athletes is our primary concern. Efficient teamwork, good citizenship, and academic achievement are expectations of all our athletes.

Athletes are role models and representatives of the School. Consequently, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the highest standards of ethics. Athletic involvement requires commitment and dedication. Athletes are expected to fulfill their responsibilities to the team, while pursuing academic excellence.

    Cheer Philosophy and Purpose

Cheer squads serve as support groups for the interscholastic athletic program within the School, therefore playing a very important role in athletic contests. Each squad shall strive to boost school spirit, promote good sportsmanship, and develop positive crowd involvement.
Being a highly visible and recognizable representative of a school, cheer squads are in a position of great influence; therefore, high standards of conduct are essential. Positive personal behavior and squad cohesiveness demonstrate these standards. The team should focus on creating a cooperative spirit among the cheer squad members, athletes, student body, School administrators, and the community. The team should recognize outstanding plays and good sportsmanship on the part of both teams, aiding the School and game officials in the promotion of the contest and good sportsmanship. Appropriate behavior will help earn the respect of the student body, which is the core of developing effective school spirit and student involvement.
Cheer squad activities should center on "leading" or "directing" the cheering of student and adult fans. In this role, cheer squads can become Francis Parker School's most effective student leaders. Performing is a secondary role of the entire cheer team, yet can effectively promote school spirit when included at appropriate times at interscholastic contests, pep rallies, events, and assemblies. Participants must condition, practice, and warm-up the same as other athletes in preparation for a performance.

Athletics Mission Statement

At Parker, we believe that athletics is an integral and valuable component of our students’ overall educational experience. We believe that student-athletes benefit not only physically and emotionally by participating and competing in sports, we believe that one of our fundamental responsibilities is to help student-athletes develop critical skills (e.g., teamwork, resilience, leadership, tenacity, etc.) that promote success in the classroom, in college and in life.
