Boys Volleyball Program Philosophy
Each year, Francis Parker strives to be the premier high school boys' volleyball team in San Diego County, regardless of size or enrollment. To reach this goal, we annually compete against the top volleyball programs within San Diego and throughout California.
Superseding our constant athletic pursuits, Francis Parker boys' volleyball additionally measures success in the quality of young men that graduate from our program.
We consider participation in high school athletics to be a privilege, and while we strive to win, we are mindful that how we win or lose tells us more about us than the final score. We expect our athletes to represent Parker as model citizens. The lessons learned on the field of play of teamwork, resilience, leadership, tenacity, sacrifice, time management, and goal setting, are lessons that will last with our athletes for a lifetime.
The coaches in our program are educators first and will place a strong emphasis on the fundamental skills of our sport. This will provide the foundation for each of our athletes the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Through their time in our program, our athletes will realize the gains of hard work, the magnitude of teamwork and the impact of true sportsmanship. Our coaches will be role models and will provide a challenging, competitive environment in which the ideals of respect, personal integrity, and character development will be stressed.
As coaches we will truly know if we were successful ten years after our athletes have left our program when they have taken the lessons they learned from athletics and applied them to the rest of their lives.
