    Program Philosophy

Our goal as surf coaches is to inspire a love of surfing and the ocean environment.  We want to encourage a lifelong love of the sport, resulting in a healthier overall lifestyle.  Surfing provides our students with many benefits, including: cardiovascular health, muscle tone, muscle endurance, and stress reduction.  We teach our students the fundamentals of surfing emphasizing integrity, responsibility, self-awareness, respect, and sportsmanship.

The Francis Parker surf team competes in the Scholastic Surf Series, in Division 5.   The season runs from October through April.  During the season, we compete in 5 contests, held on Sundays at various local beaches.  Competing in these contests is optional for members of the team.
